They are as has been said "machinists jacks" these were given to me by a retired machinist
He made them as an apprentice
They will be at least 60 years old

Well you can't have too many tools.

or this is my version of clamps and work holding. the threaded rods are M6 and the clamps / T nuts are 1/4" thick.

If you do this make sure it's decent quality 8.8 or 10.9 studding rather than no-name stuff made of cheese, otherwise you won't get much clamping pressure before it strips.

A good clamping kit, is well worth the money. But i too have some little jacks, given to me by a retired tool maker.
