Ok so it is 42 x 1.0 internal thread and 34 x 1.0 external thread?
Does the length matter as pointed out by Pete above?

Those step up rings linked to don't seem to have the correct threads which is a shame as they would have provided cheap gauges

The length will be as per drawing, my initial dimension of 50mm was an estimate...

First lotnofnparts should be here Tuesday to be stripped down

How did you get on with your mig like tig BB? Would have been interested to see if it was possible, without a very expensive synergic pulsed machine of the sort used by those doing YT vids.

It is possible. My mate can do it with an Esab smash weld 180 like I said on the original post. Best you ask the question on that thread.

I have t done any more yet, had a few things happen that took up a lot of time and energy and put things on the back burner for a while.

Can't say too much as people involved can view this forum and I don't want to compromise anything



Anyway, back to the lens...

Basically, what I want to achieve is to go from a 34x1 to a 42x1 as we know. I have spent the entire weekend looking for such an adapter that is an off the shelf item but I have failed.

This evening I had a generous offer from a shooting mate that has a spare X1.7 direct fitting lens that sits over the existing lens...no need to make adapters and replace original lens (yet)...

That said I am still going to carry this project out as the better lens gives better magnification values and much better clarity, plus a larger range of focus...

Major parts are arriving Tuesday, minor parts are arriving between Thursday and Monday I think plus I already have this new lens to try as soon as the scope arrives.

Along with the adapter I may need some stuff milled too...mainly dovetails to make a unique quick release system but more on that later

Helped design a prototype for a gun site system of some sort a while back, no idea what it was for but had adjustment left to right and up/down. Was a PITA for me to machine as I didn't have a 4th axis and had to make up jigs but it was fun at the time

Ok. Shame you didnt go further with mig like tig, as would have been interested to see if it was possible without the type of machine used on the YT vids?

That's Wayne Weedons site, only talked via forum and emails but nice guy, didn't know he was into the Astronomy stuff now, used to just be the Bultaco and Ossa bike stuff.

That is an interesting bit of kit...fully adjustable rail with 20mm on top to fit 3/8" dovetail on bottom?

I have a set of mounts that replicate what that does but they are in a box somewhere

I've not seen anything adjustable in any of the newer pulsar units...their original system was poor in that it didn't allow easy zeroing on small bore rifles with short ranges but the newer stuff has a better position of the mount which seems to have eliminated it
