Evolution Mag Drill

Has any one got one or used one?
I think I need one!
Just wondering what they are like as I know the Rage saws are great for the money.

So question is buy a evolution mag drill for £200 odd quid or save my money and buy something else?

I wont be using it much to be honest just for modding the 4x4s now and again but it is time consuming drilling chassis and bits with standard drills and the pillar drill.

I've got one, it's fine for me, I would probably go for something more robust if I was using it for my trade but I just it about 6 times a year and then it's a god send

In hind sight I would probably have done the same but I knew no better at the time. The evo isn't a bad drill, just a bit delicate.

Just remembered, I had to get a new coolant adaptor as it snapped of within a day of getting it. I got it for free after a swift phone call so customer service was OK. I haven't used the coolant facility yet though so no idea if its any good.

I have one and its superb. I have done a lot of work with it BUT I look after my tools and only me and my workmate use them. Probably wouldn't take the abuse a more expensive/heavy duty one would but I find its ok.

I don't know what to go for then as I said it wont get lots of use the odd hole here and there and The evo site has grade Bs for under £200

I've been having the same quandary for a bit, especially after seeing people make stands for them to use in the fashion of a pillar drill. I've been keeping an eye here https://www.magdrill.com/clearance.html If you're not in a rush might be worth keeping an eye out too.

The JEI is a real solid little thing. But if it comes down to a £200 limit then the EVO hard to argue against.

Those Evolution are a bit machine mart amature looking to be taken seriously imho...buy a decent second hand one like a Rotobroach and sometimes they come with a load of cutters too

Alfra are good, and the Ruko ones are ace too. German Ibanstock motors, quality parts.

I think it's @Welderpaul who has experience of the Evo ones and says they're rubbish.

Coolant bottle, variable speed, comes with chuck, 40mm capacity and whatever else I've forgotten. £100 gets you a decent range of short cutters from the same place if that's of any interest too.
I'd readily buy another if mine had an accident.
It also comes with the spare brushes as you'd expect, but also a wiring diagram and plenty of information to allow it to be repaired if it gets tired in years to come.

We have a mini beast and a Evolution, the minibeast is better built but the height is limited more than the evolution, also the evolution is 200w more powerfull (doesnt notice in use). I like the evo one and its nearly £100 less then the minibeast. Im not saying its better than the minibeast but its a great bet at £250ish

An even bigger revelation if you have never used one in the rotabroach cutters, unbelievably less effort and quicker compared to a regular drill.

Excellent tools if you have a perfectly flat surface of sufficient thickness to keep the magnet from slipping. You can work round the limitations with plate and clamps but then it gets hard work.

We use a jei mini beast at work and that gets serious use & abuse. I have no experiance of the evolution range, but as with most tools I go by the old saying "buy cheap buy twice" & the old guy who works in our workshop, failed to tighten down the clamp and it smacked him in the hand and did a merry dance on the floor. After picking it up & checking it over and a new bit in it just carried on. These are well built mag drills.

The torque they have needs to be seen to be believed (and respected) haveing seen one slip off a piece of 50mm box (was to narrow) drop down catch another length from the pile below and flip a 8 foot length of around in circles before it ripped the cable out and stopped.
