First welds for you to rate

Hi all,
This is my very first post. I have been reading and absorbing all your info and advice over the last few months. Got my new welder at the weekend and put my first lines down today. I am planning a classic mini restoration and want to get good at welding before I start. Any advice or pointers greatly appreciated

Some of the beads look a little high ie raised from the surface, you are looking for the beads to blend in more. Possibly more heat required

More heat? its 32 degrees outside, i can't cope with much more.. middle 3 runs were with it straight out he box with recommended settings 45-50 amps top 2 were 65 amps and the bottom 2 which sounded better and a flatter was 70amps. I will have another go this afternoon.

Thanks guys, appreciate your feedback. Round 2 with more heat and slower movement coming up on friday I will post another picture when it's done

The straight brads look just fine. The joints? You likely had the wrong angle or a poor view of things progressing

In general aim " middle for diddle" ie into the corner at 45 bisecting the angle

Joints take more practice than beads - if that's all the flat beads you have done you need to do more before trying some easy fillet welds then butt welds etc

Make sure you put your head were you see the bead forming

Great for a beginner.
There is a lot worse than that being done on a lot of so called restorations and most MOT repairs.
