Treadmill motor - control

Evening all,

I winder if anu og you elktrikity minded people may be able to help.

I've been given a treadmill motor, but only the motor and no wiring or control with it.

It looks too good to throw away, so was wondering what's the best way to control it with variable speed?

Is it mains or low voltage DC ?
If DC then you might find a Chinese speed controller cheap on eBay.

I'd have to check the label, but it was something like 200v dc.

Haha, I'd rather have speed control as it will be for knife making so i don't want to over heat the edge.

the stuff I make I sit on it and slow belt down and burn me fingers
