V8 block

Picked this up at a auction yesterday. It looks like it has either never been used or had a complete overall. Its cast iron but not that heavy. The numbers cast in the block are, as far as I can tell :
ERC 8819
BA 85713
6
and the serial number stamped on the top is -: 11A69942
Anybody any idea what it is off/fitted to?
Also I have no need of it so if anybody could/wants it pm me.

Hitch it does look similar but the google search only gives numbers that are not on the block. Those seem to be casting numbers.

Not really brightspark as it would need a glass top to be any good and that is a no no with the ages of our grandkids!

not a rover it's cast iron rover block was alloy could be a buick the rover block was a copy of i think

ERC 8819 is a rover no but not a block are you sure it's not a alloy block

A few years ago there was a rush to sell V6, V8 and V12 blocks to make tables. as some one said, like Real Top Gear.
I acquired a V8, looked good at a distance. But really it was fit for scrap as a block.
Using 3M Glue we attached some con rods and pistons, glass top, (Robed and cut to size from a table) and some wood for show and some battery LED.
I sold it on, took the ££££ and ran.

Its rover v8 and it will be alloy, ERC is a english rover casting, and ERC part numbers are all the way through the older segment land rover range.
Above that 11A6 engine number if you clean the paint off it, it should state the CR of the motor originally which will also give some clue to its origins. I think its a SD1 engine and that CR should read 9.35:1 to confirm that.
It does look like its been painted in ally paint though.

Here, RPI has it as a SD1 auto 9.35:1cr from between 1976-1987, the block ribs being the stiffer thicker ones bear this out but its not cross drilled like the bigger ones :-

that is a rover v8 block and it will be ally not iron thats why its not heavy
