Yes it's quite clever - probably simple enough to make but doing the original design can't have been easy.

Glad to hear you'll be doing it but I'm not really expecting you to need many attempts.
But even if I'm wrong, be sure to post it all up anyway, I'm sure nobody will think poorly of you for not getting it right immediately - I don't think very many people would consider it easy and certainly not for somebody who has only just tried using a lathe. But there's no doubt you've achieved more in a few weeks than many hobbiests manage in months (or longer).

Work commitments have kinda pee'd on my bonfire at the mo with practicing on the little lathe but yeah I'm enjoying it a lot.
I'd say the biggest reason for any progress I made using it was simply down to reading the experts posts and doing as instructed.
I would love to commit a day in front of it to have a bash at that cube and I'm sure I will give it my best and possibly get it after some time and swarf has been passed.
Yes all results good and bad would be put up as no doubt I'd need advice as I cracked on.
