It's very difficult to test properly and be competitive price wise, so most companies just go with the cheapest tester![]()
That's exactly what I've found. I have a decent PAT tester and I do a proper job but it takes longer which means you have to charge more to justify doing the job in the first place. Unfortunately, the customer generally goes for the cheaper option and uses the 'label stickers' to do the job instead.

The twit had locked the switch in the on position when pat testing it but didn't release it when finished!
It was just lucky that I wasn't standing in its path as it could've caused a serious injury. Needless to say I had some choice words for him
and the maintenance manager gave him a roasting.
