Tools for Tig

Hi
I haven’t yet purchased a tig machine but it will most likely be Parweld XTI 202.
I will be welding mainly stainless and aluminium up to a max of 5mm.
My thought was I would buy the foot pedal and torch separately if not available as a package.
Question is which ones ?
Budget for these items is not as important as usefulness.
Having never tig welded before and it’s a hobby, I wanted to try and get it “right” first time.
Any suggestions/ advice would be most welcome. Cheers

I have spent quite a few hours researching this forum for info and I think it gets to a point when you go around in circles with info overload. Perhaps I should take a step back and just go with my original thoughts. I think

Parweld XTI 202 is either supplied with a WP26 PRO GRIP with a up/down controller on the torch or an ECO GRIP WP17 which is usually a little cheaper.
Pedal is a standard pedal for the machine, afaik no alternatives are available other than an aftermarket that you get made by Tec Arc / SSC etc..

Doesn't come with a pedal as standard, it's an extra you have to ask for unless stated otherwise.

If I was you Id get a package deal. It's always better value to get it all complete ready to go than sourcing kit seperate. It reduces mistakes too like ordering the wrong item.

Yes, there are packages, but usually it comes without so it's best to ask.

I would personally if buying a new machine for the first time walk into a shop. You can hunt the net high and low for the best price but it doesn't get you that professionalism that I think is needed when starting out.
You might not get the cheapest possible spend but you get waaaaaay more for your money. If your machine is on the shelf it will likely come out of the box there and then. A brief 1 -1 demo about how to set it up and what does what and a little play to be sure your happy. Take the guys card build a relationship with them. Chances are you'll come away with a box of A15 and a reg on top for a grands spend but you'll also come away much wiser and on first name terms with the supplier which is much better than been put on hold after Using the 0800 customer service number when you have a problem.

Spent half a day with the last guy I sold a 202 to. Total loss leader as a sale but made a customer for life. You sometimes get more than you pay for.

You do. And that was a loss in terms of your time but If I was that customer Id be doing 2 things.
1) I would be back every time I needed something. Like you say loyal for life.

2) Id be recommending you from the tree tops for being patent and going the extra mile.

With welding plant it's best to buy local within an hours drive max and from someone who has time for you and values your custom

Unfortunately not one of his but will use him for gas and consumables etc. I am going to follow my dream and buy the GYS 207.

Tom, a recent post you made regarding said machine offered a deal with pedal for £1500.
Could such a deal still be available, hope you don't mind me asking.

Well I have finally made a decision and purchased a GYS 207
Via Tom at Welding Supplies Direct, thanks.
Now i am hastily preparing my workstation to include fume extraction and extra lighting.
So more trolling this very helpful forum.
