Drill Press Stand/Cabinet

People need to take care to keep small shops totally immaculate. Welding and grinding even hot swarf off a drill can start fires and they all don't burst into flames when your around to see it.
The shop above I wouldn't do hot work In. Too much stuff around for a smoldering ember to rest. Plastic bags. Paper, card and likely oils and paints etc

Hopefully when i'm finished all this will be safely in a cupboard. For now i'm going to move the dexion into the main part of the garage and stick a fire blanket around the shelf on the workbench.

with the grinding i dont do it in there as its too small and lingers like hell, the swarf off the pillar drill is when i get another part to get it running pmsl

to say its a mess id agree but after 2 roof installs its not that bad as its just getting a tidy up as now i can finish the shed once and for all and wait for the next complaint from the neighbour that im running a business in that shed to another council department seen as they already complaned too planning about it already

part of reason why im wanting the insulation as it really helps out to get it finished and you might get to see it

It's always [imho] a bonus to have natural light falling directly on to any work surface, as in the last schematic.

I like the cabinets but at 200 Euro I felt its expensive but what else could you buy to do the job? They would look good though and by spending that much its a lot less time consuming than building some from scratch and before you know it you have spent a few quid just on runners and hinges, I would just buy them but ask if they have any old scrap furniture as you may then have a cheap supply of materials

I enjoy the metal work so i'm looking forward to making a nice frame to sit them in. The wood work not so much. Will go and have a chat with this guy and see if he will do me a deal.

You guys are spoilt second hand bits here are not cheap.

I'm probably going to get the cabinets, while searching i found the above it made me chuckle €145 so i thought i would share.

Went to pick these up this morning. €180.

They are longer than expected 128cm. The wall i was hoping to put them against is 256cm so if they are inside a frame they will not fit.

Need to get them moved quickly before the wife dinks the car door on them or fills them with shoes

put a good thick worktop on top of those and you won't need any legs etc.. fixing on

sheet of wood on the wall behind is great for tools etc.. too

I always find tools are much better hanging on a nail on a wall, or on a shelf than in a draw, easier to find what you want when you need it, and easier to organise because you can see what's there from a distance

I thought about that they are a little low at 79cm. Unless i put them on a base maybe with some wheels.
Or set them back in a frame with the side flush with the frame. I have 40mm between the outside of the cabinet and the draws/doors.

I really wanted the two benches on the left wall and the welding table on the right.

As i cant fit them in, maybe something like this or lop one of the draws off the cabinets and use of for something else.

put em along your window wall as you might have enough room for the welder to go at the end

welding table put it to the left welding trolley at side of it then your away from splatters hitting the top of the bench when your welding up material have your cupboards above the welding table is the way id go

With the two benches on the longer wall mounted in a frame (40mm box) that leaves 17cm.

Not much room for the bottle and trolley unless i reduce the width of welding table from 110cm.

I'm going to push on although i'm still not sure where things will go. I could just lay a work top on top of the draws but this is a welding forum and i enjoy welding so will mount them in frames. My idea now it to make the 4 leg sections put one bench together then decide what i will do with the second bench cut it down or place them on the longer wall.

What should i use to make the frames? The sketches were done with 40mm box.

Did another sketch of the frame added 60mm*40mm box for the sides and front (of bottom section) so the cabinet feet have something to sit on.

Whats a good height for workbench? Without the leveling feet and counter top this is 922mm.
