Hey guys new to this page look great some really good info on it.

I weld alot of heavy steel like 400 hardox for crusher hoppers but I am looking to get in to a bit of rug welding for home etc cars & bike stuff I have been looking at the r tech 200amp ac/dc tig anyone got one or used one and if so what's your views on it

The R-TECH machines get good reviews & they've got very good UK back up too but in my opinion there are options on the market for around the same money that'll outshine the R-TECH.

A couple of options to consider -

Parweld XTI 202 AC/DC (My preference, i've had plenty of hands on with it and love it)
Jasic TIG 200 AC/DC Analog (very easy front panel, decent arc quality yet I'd choose the Parweld over this)

Whats the max thickness you plan on doing steel & ali wise?

if you are doing rug welding, I think you would be better off with crochet hooks. ; but the RTech stuff is pretty well received by the lads that have them, about the only suppliers to easy payments plan afaik.

The thickest I will probably be welding 5mm and every rarely 6mm at home got a good few jobs to do out of 3mm stuff.


As for steal stainless most the time few mild steel parts. Ali after a while to I I learn now to tig right.

200A will do 5MM / 6MM at a push, any of the machines mentioned would suit you down to the ground.

I've done 5mm with my GYS 207, 50mm beads jumping along the plate stitch style, never tripped on me. I started around 200 but dropped as the plate heated up. Like having too light a hammer, you just hit it more times

Aye Craig, its on its way to you today. MMA lead isn't anything special mate, can get one from your local for around a tenner. Just needs to be a 200A electrode holder with 3M lead(isn) with 35/50MM Dinse plug.
