At just 40yrs old This was my first welding task & was very worried. never used a welder before but it had to be done. Bought myself a sip dp181 welder & spent a long weekend on it with help of a good friend. The prep work is the hardest but the smile afterwards is great. I'm sure the great people in here will help as much as possible. You can do it

I think I'll buy the workshop manual for the XJS that is a digital download - my phone will be able to display it, so it's not like it's limited to my PC. The main reason is that A) It's £7 and B) The search function will never have been so handy for a 1200 page manual.
Dont know if you checked out the gov, web site I stated earlier, it will tell you mot history, so you can work out what has been done, what was listed as fail last time and advisories, believe me you will find it usefull and could save yourself a few quid in the process. Arther
Hard to read the data plate photo but looks like a 3 phase machine so not much good for home use. Needs a different type of electricity supply to what you get at home.
should be glad same as 1st sentenceAha Thank you knightly!I'm glad to hear that the Jaguar is a nice ride, and even more gladder (?) that your wrist is better. Can't have you welding with a bad wrist, can we?

Feeling inspired, and I've done some revision today. So, not feeling too unproductive!
