First Fix Nail Gun Into Steel?

At some stage in the future I'm going to buy a first fix nail gun, a Paslode type, to do the timber work for the barn but I might bring the purchase forward if I can use a nail gun to fix the steel wall ties for the blockwork into the steel beams with it?
I've used a Hilti type powder gun to fix wall ties to steelwork before but I don't want to hire one as I can't do it in one hit and its not worth buying one just for this job.
Anyone know if you can use a gas nailgun into steel?

Iirc paslode or someone makes a gun for steel but it's expensive

I am at the moment but it's a pain as I have to uncover the gennie, connect it to the tractor, get the welder out etc. every few courses.

How thick? Tek screws will go through most steel.

im with paul on the tek screws if you didnt mind the bit more hassle fixing them.
or buy a good clean secondhand one off the bay.
i bought a mint DX460 off it about 3 yrs ago, i used it to fire nails through about 8mm of steel with relative ease, that id be out the far sdide of it.
a new one is rocket money unless you got the use out of it the one here i sold on about 5 mths ago and bought a sds drill which im geting far more use out of.
the nail gun was good at its job but i didnt have much work for it now.
iirc i got €500 for my one but it had the magazine head with it along with about 1200 nails.
the black caps will fire nails through the thickest material.

weld them on all in one go. the blocks are a standard size so get your level and tape out mark em up and off u go

the heavy section tek screws will go through up to 12mm section.

We've had some that will go through 20mm thick. The lads used to use them as drill bits in an emergency!

the paslode will fire through the thin beam hangers type of steel the ones at .5 or .7mm thick

Tek screws, but get the proper gun for them...putting them in with a power drill or cordless drill just isn't as good.
The biggest mistake people make is buying the wrong kind to go into what they need it to go into... then you get problems like them shearing off, not driving in all the way,...

The other option to the hilti is a Spit Pulsa...another spendy machine!

I bought a Bostich air powered nailer when I was reroofing the my house, very happy with it. If you have access to compressed air then they are good option. I have no idea how many nails I put in but the only time it misfired was when I had forgotten to turn the compressor on, I had been nailing for quite some time before I realised too as they don't use much air. I used it on all the rafters and then with shorter hot dip nails for the battons, it was superb for that job as you can get them arrow straight because once it's lined up the nail is in the blink on an eye and no arm ache.

tek screws are good. buy the right ones tho ( i mean the right type and not the cheepest nasty ones ) the fine thread ones that are ment for thick stuff will go through the flange of most i beams no problem. infat a decent tek screw makes a better drill bit than a lot of cheepr drill bits
