If you are doing 70 in the outside Lane and you need to boot it to get past quickly it will often go to limp mode leaving you up ×÷=%_ Creek without a paddle.

Also at low speed if you boot it to pull away off an island it drops to limp mode. An ignition turning off and on puts it back to normal....but no codes are left.

Sticky variable vane turbo? Boot it and it produces too much boost and the ecu thinks there is a fault? Does it start to accelerate just before it goes into limp mode?

sounds about right, or a squey sensor, on some ecu's limp mode an be triggerd without generating a fault code just to make things more fun for you. boot it and limp mode is usally overboost from stuck vanes or actuator tho

It throws no codes mate . Not even after a limp mode episode... we have been airing towards a fuel pressure sensor but at 90 quid it's a bit of a gamble.

does it stay in limp untill ign switched off and back on? or do you have to have it reset?
because if the first, that also, to me sounds, pressure related. ie overboost vanes sticking momentry overboost when excelerating hard.

hi just re read and you did mention ign cycle that is almost def vane issue does it do it more often after some town driving ? if so it is the vanes sticking qiute common with the ladies style of driving school shops etc with cold overfueled engine can be cured with some spiritrd driving as vw call it.
customer had a golf had it chipped, coz he thought it woud cure sticking and did 1 mile and over spooled turbo and blew it

Have mine out of necessity to drag a 5th wheel but as it does so little to the gallon it does get driven like miss daisy.

Problem is I used some (recommended) additive and ran it hard up and down a great big long hill as advised for an hour. Never made much difference but it does not go into limp mode to order it's very random.

Also my son gave it a right thrashing and it's seems the same.
