where to get BBQ mesh?

i need some stainless mesh for a BBQ i will be making within the next fortnight.

anyone know the cheapest place to get something suitable. 500mx1000m would be plenty as i can cut it down to suit

Commercial fridges have stainless wire shelves in them, I grabbed one from an old NHS Phlebotomy fridge for my barbecue, I love watching guests pause in their chewing when I tell that what I cooked their steak on!

Why stainless?

do what i do and go the scrap yard then take the grills out of old cookers

ah right, just expanded steel then? can get plenty of that for about a fiver from brundles, where the angle iron is coming from too

as above though, the BBQ mesh panel is 24 quid after VAT which is more than im paying for the other steel combined.

Have deicded to get some expanded metal, £5 for a sheet twice as big as i need so if it burns out after the first use i will still have some to use while i find more but cant see it burning out to be honest

Mine has been in use for about five years.
It is a very heavy piece tho - 1.5? Maybe 2mm thick.
Piece is 3ft x 2ft and weighs at least 6kgs

the description says the stuff i will be buying is 2kg weight...still, cant see it burning out to be honest, not quickly anyway

You can get decent mesh at Tesco, Asda or any decent supermarket. It comes on a tubular frame plus it has castors & a handle for easy transport and only costs £1!
