Diagnose my gearbox

curiosity more than anything, I'm certainly not opening it up to fix it

1st gear clicks loudly, and gets faster as rpm increase, foot on clutch stops the clicking and all other gears are as normal.

Any ideas? Started after pulling off uphill.

had that once,turned out to be a tooth had come off the lay gear....no idea how that happened as they are in constant mesh....oh and it could be cos it,s French

Enjoy the sound. I had a Pug do it for way over 70,000 miles.

I have some Torpex what will make it go away.

don't see how it can only do it in 1st gear but stops with clutch operated, when noises stop because you have pushed the clutch pedal down its usually clutch related and 1st gear is not directly in contact with the input shaft

through the gear stick means nothing, the stick is probably on cables to the box

BB gear lever is rod linked to the box. I bet he will soon be changing the white ptfe plastic bushes on the links.

My mistake, I was convinced in my head they were rod linked.
No I am thinking what was I thinking about, I blame the meds.

Had this same thing on a Vauxhall gearbox once, Chipped tooth and the broken piece got jammed into the bottom of two of the other teeth,

My Mrs nearly dropped it in from 4th yesterday...it wouldn't go into first and she realised what she was doing...I reckon I could force it in though lol
