They have ironed out a lot of the wrinkles particularly with the digital range of tigs which seem to be far less problematic than some of the older twisty knob type. As said above they deal directly so any warranty issues are delt directly with them which they sort out rapid and deal with all the collection/return hassle too.
You will pay more for an Rtech over similar quality machines like parweld etc but the A1 customer service does come at a cost. They offer finance too which is very attractive to some as its not such a blow to the wallet on the outlay.

I bought a r-tech plasma cutter, i have worked it hard and it hasn't let me down. To me the r-techs are ideal for the home/hobby user who doesn't weld everyday, or even everyweek, and can't justify having thousands tied up in a lincoln or miller, just to weld bike bits or gates.

Not an experienced welder like many are here, but I sold a Clarke 151 and bought the Mig180, and my impression was that the components of the Clarke were built down as cheaply as they could be, whereas the parts in the RTech seem to be specc'd as the best they could get for the money. Things like the wire feed device, the replaceable torch and connector, the thickness of the leads and the earth clamp quality, the solidity of some of the internal parts etc. This may say more about the Clarke than the RTech mind you.

I can recommend their after sales service from personal experience. Nice people too. Luckily they are only a few miles away from me, or unlucky for my pocket!

I have R-Tech 250-1 Mig, PC30 Plasma and a dual voltage digital 200DC Tig. I have been a customer of R-Tech for almost two years now, and I use my gear commercially. The Mig gets 18-25 hours visor-down usage each week, the Plasma about 6 hours visor-down usage and the Tig maybe 4 hours visor down usage each week.
Apart from their superb service at point of purchase I cannot comment on their after-sales-service because I've never experienced a problem with my machines which means that I have never had to use it. Some how I just know that if I had a problem it would be sorted without any kind of fuss............ and machine breakdown time is a significant make or break issue for one-man-bands like me.
Personally in your position I would try and save up or use the free finance deal and stretch to the 250-1 Mig as this can take the 5 and 15kg wire reels and has the extra capacity over the 180-1 which has only a 5 kg wire reel capacity.

I have an i-mig 180 (pre the digital display model) and I sold a Clarke 135te to buy it and I 100% agree with the above quote. Well worth the money, the only thing I bought was a binzel torch with a 4m lead.

I found the people here in dublin who sell the r-tech stuff great too. They are an offshoot of the uk operation afaik. When i was in my last job and had to deal with the crowd who sell miller, i hated it , they made you feel like they were doing you a favour just talking to you, let alone selling you something, and as for getting a plant repaired ..............forget about it.
When i bought the plasma last year, the r-tech people incorrectly told me the one i wanted was in stock, when they found out it wasn;t they rang me and apologised. Then got the one i ordered to me asap, complete with a nice big bag of consumables.

Something else to ask a local place near me sell the SWP 170 mig so what u reckon r tech over SWP ???

Yes, i believe the lower end swp migs aren't great.
