T + E size please

Want to fit another 13a double metal clad socket about 3mtrs away from existing one in shed. What size of t + e will I need? Will occasionally be for mig welder use (Clarke 135TE only).

For a 13a socket 2.5mm should be ok.

Yes 2.5mm, but more importantly what size is already running between the socket you want to add to and how far is that from the board. Providing that is also a minimum of 2.5mm all the way you should be ok. I have seen old supplies to sheds run in 1.5mm to a light and socket on 15 wire fuse.

Thank you Turbo, will that be single strand or spiral wound wires? Do you mean that the bare wire/s will be 2.5mm dia. Asking because I may well have some.

I'm quite sure what is there already is well above 2.5, next thing to cooker size I would say.

They grow on the end of ya finger, I think he means toe nails coz they are similar but are usually thicker, form on each separate leg and are about a foot away from a spur.

Thanks all, back to my above question though. Is 2.5 the diameter size of the stripped wire? Asking this as I may already have some.

it's 2.5mm csa

which is cross sectional area (surface area of the flat after you cut the wire)

2.5mm csa is about 01.8mm diamiter

(2.5mm csa is rated at about 18amps, but there's a bit of shift depending how it's mounted, in insulation where it could heat up is less, clipped to a wall were it'll keep cool is more etc. etc.)
