use 3 car batteries in series and rods I have done it for temp repairs, or use a 12v truck battery in line with the earth cable on your mig ie the earth lead from welder goes to possitive on the battery and the neg of the battery goes to the job, you can still control the current /voltage but 50% of the current power comes from the battery only thing is the welding wire is still live and can spark a little through the tranny windings, but it works a treat, I have welded some heavy gauge steel to my trailer this way before now, when having to use a massively long extension. And have also done it when using a genny .

The mosa engine driven with a single power take off for the grinder etc is the best bet
Oh it's available way cheaper than r- tech advertise it for ( but without all the credit knosense) you need to phone other suppliers though I think they are price protecting it on the internet

Oxy fuel welding between races? Heck that's not happening is it

My mates got a diesel mosa genset towable had very little use I can ask if its for sale

Oxy is effective and can be bought for not much cash.

Just try a battery in series with earth line with a small transformer mig ( wouldnt try it with an inverter) you will be pleasantly surprised.
As it cuts down the required load on the genny by limiting the inrush for one thing, everytime the contactor kicks in. Which is the big problem coz of the inrush it kills the field voltage, of the genny and by the time the throttle responds it is too late.

Depends how many races and how much he charges for the repairs. Could soon earn that money back per week. Anyhow that's what I do for site work where I cant get the ranger. Just add the cost to the job.

Probably 3-4 races per meeting, and you charge nothing for the repairs,maybe a pint in the bar after if your lucky.

I pronounce it speedworth - all about the speed!

Passing all of these onto him, although I think most useful could be just a bigger genny, have a couple of stick boxes to tune into what ever power he can find.

Ideal world buy a mosa and set up in the corner of pits charging people to use to get money back!

I suggested that. Well I linked to the Fronius one. Pricey kit mind but very useful for burning a few rods where power and leads are an issue.

Hi folks,

Welding Solution for Stock Car Repairs at Track!

Tried to use my MIG (Clarke 150) and a Clarke Arc welder (not sure model does 160amp) with a 6.5KVa generator tonight with no success...well MIG did try but not powerful enough to penetrate.

So looking for advice on solutions.

Need to weld up to 3mm box to repair bumpers etc.
