Shame you are going to part with your Kemppi.Superb machine

If I buy it Appy I will be parting with my mls. Yes it's a great unit once set up its a dream to use but the interface panel set up is a train reck. All those settings mixed up and randomly placed. Again only yesterday I had the manual out just to up the AC frequency and at the mo I'm using it daily. Some people just get on with em and find them easy but I'm not a techy and these things should be more simple.

Talk about David and Goliath.
Went and saw the guy today. What a quality bloke. What should of taken an hour round trip actually took 3 after a good old natter and a few cups of tea.
Anyway. It's a little monster. Obviously having never ac welded with one before I got fired straight into the the alu. Razor sharp arc lovely cleaning action all going well till I fried the torch ..... Oops.
Welds went from clean to porus as the torch started smoking then the neck just drooped.
Love the unit though. I can see why they are a fortune. Great charactoristics all round. It's not better than the Kemppi Mls. It's just different. Much more logical which is the appeal. It's a clean example too.
Next step finish my cooler.
Get my wc torch.
Order a rip off pedal.

I was gonna leave it as it took him half hour to find the dins connection for the torch and I wasn't gonna pay for it having not tried it. Yes you were right Hugh. They are very good. Hope it lasts me. You never know when they will go pop. It's about 4 years old he said.

I'll tell you one feature I like about it above the rest and that's how much it gives for what it takes.
It allowed me to run 5 1/2 4mm 7018 rods Continuously at full whack (170 amps) from a 13 amp supply before the fan even cut in. Never Even thought about tripping the switch. I've not had a lot of success with currents on mma over 150 before.
78 ocv across the terminals so it's no cel runner but low hi's are nicely delt with. Dc Tig is very nice also but then most are tbh, it's not something I have found to separate many units. Ac is a sort of softer arc. Very stable and sharp but with a bit of a sinuous/square type charactoristics about it. I'm rarely on anything but square wave Usually so I noticed it straight away. Not bad just different. The Mls has a choice of wave patterns and the Rehms fixed wave is a bit like a hybrid between the Mls's square and sin wave. It has very basic ac settings compared to the Mls but it does current, balance and frequency which is all I ever use.

I was watching the machine myself & thinking about it but I just can't seem to pull the trigger on an AC/DC TIG set :P

Tom I wouldn't have a tecarc pedal thrown at me. No offence if it's one of your products but I had one with my first magicwave 2000 and it was nothing less than hopeless. So much slop in it and the notchy travel was just painful. Maybe I got a bad one but it's put me off them now. Took the plunge this morning on the Oe one. He quoted me 400 quid with vat yesterday but when I paid today he did me a bit more discount and is kindly sending me the full set of manuals for it too. It's nice to know they are local to me and deal directly too. My major concern was support of I needed it but having spoke with them today it's now not a concern at all. Might even send it off to them for a full service/inspection to get any early warning signs if there is any.

Yes I had the DC 210 for a very short while. I bought that cheap and sold it just as cheap too. It was an impulse buy based purely on its size as I was doing a fair amount out and about and wanted portability but it's non AC limited me and found i wasn't using it anywhere but indoors so it proved of little use. Great set mind. Identical to what I have now baring AC. It weighed 5 kg and fitted in a drawer. Amazing stuff. I had the covers off it to replace a bit of insulation causing hf leak and I certainly wouldn't like to work on one. Tightly packed is an understatement.

The tec arc pedal is no better than an r-tech offering... Horrible badly made junk in comparison to an ssc.

Yes I wasn't a fan. It came with the first one I bought and I binned it after a week and bought the Oe Fronius one. No comparison.

Talking of pedals.
This one is a beaut. Seems solid, smooth with zero play or notching. But then I'd expect good for the price.
Not keen on the plug arrangement though tbh. They have the generic plug on it then just fit an adapter on it to suit the machine. Good if you plan of swapping from Rehm to Rehm but it's a bit num looking.
I also bought another torch Cos my beloved weld tech is going with the kemppi Tomoz
Open mind and and a fair bit cheaper ive opted for a ck this time. For those that want I'll do a fair comparison review based on my use of both brands after the ck has had some use but I can tell you now straight away it doesn't feel as quality as the weld tec.
It's nice and well made but the head is a little plasticy feel which you don't get with weld tech. It's price related. I paid £140 for the ck on its own so we shall see.

Ok so this is a temp knock up to keep me welding till I have time to make the cooler nice and get it sprayed. But this works well for time been.

It welds fooging gorgeously on AC.
Really stunning. I'm really pleased I took the plunge and even more pleased I've shifted the mls so quick.
That pedal is a lovely thing. Every bit as smooth and responsive as the mls one.
Torch is nice. Cools very quickly and the cables are lovely and flexible. It's a notch behind the weldcraft crafter cs310 and sw320 on general feel and quality but it is very good that's my opinion on initial first use.

CK not quite as good quality as Weld-Tec, but are nicely made, and less money. Does Rehm actually weld better than MLS I wonder, or have you not had a proper chance to try it yet? My old Hitachi is very very smooth in AC, perfect for casting repairs in mixed mode, and on balance if I had to sell one or the other it would probably be the MLS, as for my purposes the Hitachi is the better of the two.

Not better certainly not worse but it's arc is very different. It's softer than the conventional but harsher than a trans sinuous wave.
It's really stable. I really love it.
I do still think the magicwave had an edge over others but this is closer to the magicwaves smooth arc.

I didn't realise till I read the manual this thing has a mixed acdc setting too.
