Hi,

doing a bit of welding this evening...

using .8mm wire which was new (I tend to use .6mm most of the time)...

now I don't know if it was the wire, or the metal, or my gloves, but after a minute or two I became aware of a smell similar to fresh popcorn. Quite pleasant really.

Then I had the thought, a new business idea...

spray-on flavours that give off an aroma as you weld!

What's your favourite?

Curry? Beer? Chanel no 5, like the girlfriend?

Haddock and chips, like the wife?

I have another customer that makes concentrated fragrances as used in soap shampoo etc, get that on your clothes and it takes a lot of explaining when you get home, smelly old job this engineering lark!.

alright if your a fisherman,
Did some pipework in a tannery once, had to throw overalls and boots away, have also worked in abattoirs, that takes some getting used to.

worked in toiletries industry for a while with perfume concentrate ,as paul says got some strange looks ,especially shopping straight from work,rubber and plastic moulding takes some getting used to but chicken processing was by far the worst chicken s**t was bad but curry and garlic/ herb flavouring was evil toolbox still smells after years,,,,,and i love curry

hmm, yes, walking around the chicken factory from time to time, depending on what flavour they were adding, it was difficult to breathe.

Chinese Chicken was the strongest, as I recall.

Reminded me of Mr. Bean in the department store, crawling out of the ladies perfume area gasping for breath.

Mhhhh I used to (when it was still legal) do some pipe work for a swill feeding pig unit........jeussss nothing was as unpleasant as that, maggots, rotten food, fat, and pig ****e.....hmmm, when he got FAM he changed over to a waste oil (food) processor as well as being involved in the in ital build, I have various bits and bobs to repair/modify..... the place has a constant smell of MacDonald's/Indian/ Chinese etc...... after a day there It becomes quite sickening, especially the smell of Mcrap....eukkkk
