Hi the clutch on my 2003 vectra c has started to slip a bit and although have been going easy on it last 3 months it must be almost time for me to do change it. Has anyone got any advice on this job, last clutch i did was on an escort mk3 about 15 years ago,would i get away with just the friction plates, or will i need the diaphram as well as they do both at factors. cheers

I wouldn't change only the friction plate, you may get it back together and find you cant engage gears, sometimes the springs get weak on the pressure plates and it doesn't retract fully, they haven't changed much from mk 3 escorts still all the same stuff to remove

and might be worth replacing slave cylinder, sods law it would go 3 month on
Yes for advice was wondering what to buy. how not pleasant is it then, going to use my mates hard standing and get the front up on axle stands o and got the the haynes manual. Must a admit never owned a vaxhal before and things seem to be going wrong on it faster than i can replace them,

I am sure the front sub frame has to come out
Don't forget it is 13 years old it would have to be a "minter" of a car before I would do it
The diesels also have a duel mass fly wheel
The last one I did was 6 hours on a 2 post lift with all the gear (I do it for a living)

I'm sure it's a subframe out job (drop engine and box out on subframe, split box, do clutch, and slave cylinder if its concentric, dual mass flywheel on diesel) also suggest to change gearbox oil especially on 6 speed boxes as they are weak and sought after.
Thanks for the advice everyone the 3 part clutch seems good ideal does that also have the slave cylinder with it. looked at the haynes book and it says undo the front subframe and drop the engine and gearbox not keen on this. Would i need an engine hoist for this or would a pair of trolley jacks do. If i could get away with just undoing one side of subframe i suppose just a jack will do
