how do I go about scrapping a disco with no wheels?

Need rid of the scrap disco now but want to keep the tyres on it/and the tyres on mine.

I was thinking about seeing if I can get it lifted on the back of a truck, but if it's got no ARB or shocks, what's stopping the axle just dropping down as it's lifted? The scrap engines just sitting on top of the front axle too.

Any ideas on how to go about this?
I'd rather not have to get more tyres considering I'll probably get nothing for this

Work out how old the tyres are and how long it'll be before you use them, tyres deteriate and get iffy after 6 yrs. Often better to let them go.

Cranes don't care what's hanging it all piles up underneath when it's lowered :-)

You could always tie the axle in place with rope or even cheap ratchet straps.

Found a company that dispose of accident damaged cars so I'll just ring them and have it taken, (ill tell them to bring a couple small ratchet straps to strap the axles) dont care for getting any money out of it with the scrap price now .. just want it gone

Cut the seatbelts out and use them to hold axles in place.

Turn it upside down before you lift it.

EMR wont let you remove wheels, but my local yard, when i took a car to them, advised me to loosen up the wheels, and then, once they lifted it, take them off.

Nobody wanted my other front axle for free when I posted it up
I'll be refurbing that when I get a chance now though.

The underside of this is coated with a layer of mud and rusted on making everything a PITA to remove .. so I can't be bothered getting under it now tbh.

That's what the scrappy did when I took my mum's old car over too.

300tdi .. All the running gear is still there but the tbox stuck in diff lock..
Gearbox ran smoothly, is it easy to remove now there's no bellhousing bolts?
I already have a spare tbox/gearbox though lol.


I'll have a look again tomorow to see what I can get off ...

End up with so many extra parts owning a land rover

Engines dropped against the axle so I don't think I can get to the crank pulley .. I don't think I'd be able to get it off anyway

I scrapped a car last week and they just put a chain through the front windows and hoiked it up onto the truck. Wasted a morning freeing off the brakes and held my breath that it would stay in one piece as they lifted it...

They could lift yours on then do a second lift for anything left sitting?
