Chopping 1600+ 16-25mm round bars

I don't have a hydraulic cropper and have never seen a new one in operation to gauge the best possible result-but the slight bend ive seen and the pinch effect on the round bar puts me off them a bit. For this job I need a nice end. Thinking 4 at a time in a bandsaw.
Does anyone have any experience cutting this type of volume with a 25mm blade bandsaw? I guess cropping is the fastest and it might even be worth subbing out if a good result can be achieved with a Geko or Kingland type machine.

Your one runs backwards mate, may invert time and space cutting that ammount.

Cut 2 at a time...any more and the middle ones risk jumping out, which will break teeth off the blade....Unless you have the luxury of vertical clamping on the saw. I'd enquire from a couple of stockholders, but specify sawn not cropped.

Just tried a pice of 25mm mild steel in my cold saw and it took 12.75 seconds to cut, so you would look at about 5 per min with a stop setup.

Out of interest, what lengths? Railing sized bits? 1000/1100?

1600 off ? How long each ? 30 hours cutting approx. depending on handling amounts from cuts off each length. Being fair an abrasive cut off saw could well be the fastest properly set up. I did 168 off the other week 16mm round one at a time about a morning including set up time

band saw wont like you stacking them as the diameter will vary leaving some to spin

We could combine powers with 2 chopsaws. I'm sure you could run one on each hand plus that backwards thingy under your bottom to sit on.

Kent I do this regularly, stack them on the saw rollers and have a welder in place to tack, takes no time.

They're a bit shy on capacity for the OP's needs, he says 16-25mm.

I recently had to cut 100 6.5m, 16mm dia bars at 22" long for some drying racks we made. Only have a smallish bandsaw, but bunched the bars into about a 5" diameter bundle and used two jubilee clips to hold it together. Bandsaw wizzed through and cut them all in a few hours!

im with steve, tack the ends together to cut it in a bundle, often do it here, it ill keep the lths correct too.
