Particularly in the 1G position (flat) cap it off with 2 stringers rather than such a wide weave. Despite the fact it looks very suspect to slag traps, there is quite a lot of unneeded heat gone into that which will compromise the joints strength. The V up a weave is more acceptable given its used to manipulated the pool to prevent things running back but again if it was me I'd limit the width and look at splitting that into 2 runs as a priority just to keep my heat input down.
Your flat position root looks very nice but it's unrealistic to get the option of changing position of the work piece and if we could we'd aim for flat every time so I would suggest do the whole joint V up or the whole joint flat.
Nice attempts keep going.
more heat for root pass and less for weave if I'm correct?
I will do the x piece tonight for you guys and also will do an overhead piece and use the advice you both have given and we can go from there
My teacher at school said my uphills were fine haha but you can always do better I say
Also when running my V up root bead will I use any sort of pattern side to side or just go straight up they turn out ok sometimes and other times they are too lumpy :/ more heat for root pass and less for weave if I'm correct?
Mate. They ain't fine " yet "by a fair way, are you paying him?
Yes there is a real problem, it's always existed mind you just gotten progressively worse with each generation. My workplace is paying him man just our education system failing us again haha didn't get a chance to do those pieces tonight due to my lift wanting to head home early I can't wait to get my license
It's a little harsh "by a fair way".Mate. They ain't fine " yet "by a fair way, are you paying him?
I should crack on whenever you can. I honestly don't know if your guys any good or not but I am not a believer in praise over honestyA real problem indeed is there anywhere I can actually get a good education on welding or is it the self taught path?
It's a little harsh "by a fair way".
Imo it's a good attempt. It's too wide and the step ups are too far apart but it's not running all over, it's pretty flat, had that been split into two runs I think he would of done a decent job of it.
