Well I playing around on fleebay as you do and noticed this just before it finished, got a little excited as it was not very far away. Just wondering how deep a hole I have dug myself lol

Blowing the photo's up suggests it's had a quick touch up without much preparation prior to the paint going on, hoping it is in excellent mechanical order when you get to check it out.

Can't really comment on the price, they fetch silly money because of the following they have and as much as I like them I am afraid I don't like them enough to pay that much.

Just give it a good going over and check for any excess slop and such, when you get there. If that's in decent nick, doesn't seem too bad a price in comparison to some of the prices Myford gear goes for.

Best budget at least another £200 to complete the set of changegears too...

Didn't think Myford gears tended to command too much, price wise?

Interesting set of wood chisels with it. And itll be wirth sorting the forward reverse switching. Shouldnt be too complex to an electric type person.

Machine tools can be an expensive obsession beware!

Been used for wood-turning, judging by the chisels with it..........?? I agree with Steve about the 'makeover' too.

And that pulley with the chunk out of it would need changing, I suspect it'd chew belt(s) otherwise.

At current prices you would be lucky to get that with a 1 in the front of the price you paid. That was a steal, But the question remains are they worth the money they are fetching?

That exactly. I'm hardly an expert, but the pics show a machine that is in better nick that most new kit.

Yes I'm just a lathe learner but I thought the Super's normally fetched much more than that, well above the 1k mark. To be honest my bid (max £1001.99) was a bit half hearted in the last few seconds, I fully expected to be blown out of the water on it. Looks like it definitely needs some TLC, some tidying up on the electrics and as noted the inclusion of the wood chisels is interesting and the chipped pulley, is the red belt standard or some kind of makeshift 'emergency' belt? Will get it collected and post up some better pictures.

The half hearted bids are always the worst. I can guarantee I'll usually be following one of those with the words: "Erm, darling....".

I paid 900 for my super 7, a little cleaner that yours but with no tooling, only a quick change tool post and a set of change wheels , I thought I'd overpaid but evidently not. What swung it for me was it was literally 5 minutes from my house and te guy delivered it!

The ML7 beds tend to wear low on the front way right in front of the chuck because the bed is unhardened and bits of swarf get trapped under the saddle, grinding away at the bedway. I bought one one that was 7 thou low and had some scoring in the ways. I bought it for scraping practice and when I was finished it was flat and true to less than half a thou.

How many older machines do have hardened ways though? Even with those with hardened ways, I'd be very surprised if there wasn't at least slight notable wear on the bed near the chuck, if it's a well used machine.

Many do, many don't. It's just that the ML7 has hung on doggedly to it's flat-way design which is perfect for catching chips whereas they slide right off a vee=way bed.
