Since its sort of ontopic for the OP - is a handbrake warning light a fail?
Neighbours renault has a dodgy sensor - handbrake itself is fine, tho.

just short the wires if u dont wanna fork out for a new sensor, i thought they had switches on the handbrakes at the rear under the plastic cover normally adjustable too

a lot of the handbrake waring lights are operated via single wire to switch which connects to the body, and as mrfuzzy they also double for low fluid warning
