Wonder if it might be a good idea for anyone interested, who has owned a welding set long term, and has regularly used it to put together a review of good and bad points and post it somewhere on the forum?
Thats probaley why we need to be honest and upfront on the forum. If a guy sells 200 rolls Royce a year he is also going too see lots more failures on rollers than a guy who sells fiat will
Ok that's obvious but you get the point
Got to be honest if my main buisness was selling Renault I should keep my mouth shut on repairs lol
Start of your "surgery" alreadyWonder if it might be a good idea for anyone interested, who has owned a welding set long term, and has regularly used it to put together a review of good and bad points and post it somewhere on the forum?
All of my machines get somewhere between hobby and commercial use,
Still own a Lincoln minimig 180c since '85, so far only a gas solenoid valve gone which failed within a few years of new,
nice medium duty mig but could do with modifying it to a eurotorch,
had a Cebora Tigstar 16p for about 15 years with no probs,
Biggest gripe about it is its low 130amp output, bit deceiving as you think its a 160 due to the 16p model no,
Real basic on AC with no balance control, not really portable as its damn heavy,
mates had it for about 5 years and the hf has failed which he's trying to repair right now which is proving difficult.
Owned an R-tech acdc 201 for about 18 months, had two machines fail within the first two months and were replaced by R-tech,
Biggest grip on this machine is the constant running and very noisy cooling fan,
replacement machine is still working well with the new owner.
Currently own a Miller Dynasty 200dx, nearly 3 years now and really cant fault its performance,
fantastic on all types of ali with the multitude of settings available and very easy to use front board layout,
run the wireless pedal also which is great, you'll think they're an expensive gimmick until you own one.
Also own another Miller for mobile work, a 160STH model owned about 18 months now, a full function dc tig with pulse and stick welder, also cant fault it especially as it can run off low power output gennys.
There isn't that much in it price wise. I nearly went down the dynasty route before going for the Mls and other than how they performed on sticks they are very comparable machines on tig. The arc stability from both units was so much the same I chose the mls simply based on its extra 30 amps top end. The Miller panel is a lot more user friendly mindVery useful info, and a lot more helpful than simply singing the praises of whatever particular machine you might own. Miller looks a very nice machine, and would prefer one over my Kemppi, but I would guess a great deal more money though.
This thread doesn't really stand a lot of chance Chris. Some very passionate people on here about there opinions on machines that could quickly turn into a slagging match should a post come up showing them in a negative light. I on the other hand could pick faults with mine all day long if I wanted to. It does me fine and hasn't let me down yet but she's no Fronius.

Not sure if that post was a dig at my reviews or not..? or am I just being stupid?Surely much more useful than the type of "review" put out by people who have been provided with equipment FOC, and cannot be seen as being all that objective surely?
