Hi, I can remember reading that scaffold poles are date coded and when that expires they are supposed to be sold into scrap so that they don't end up back in service as scaffolding by less scrupulous companies. I can imagine the boards will be the same and that is why the company with them haven't sold them locally already.

I'm not sure if that's the case. There's a company called Trad, in the east end of London, that sells their redundant boards through eBay. I bought a load from them a couple of years ago.

I bought a fair few second hand boards they were -virtualy mint and clean 2 quid each the firm they hired them out to in the thousands would only have them used once. I cut a fair few -down the middle and made fence rails out of them then coated with genuine creosote and waste engine oil

Here's a crazy idea. Hire an artic local to the load and go get ALL there is to buy. work out a deal to sell them locally and use the money to buy boards closer to the destination.

I did think of that but who is going to buy 7.5t of boards?

The boards are in good condition but they can only be used for a set time and are then scrapped.

Ring a haulier? We regularly have artics, 10T hiab wagons etc.

Sent 11T of steel from Leeds to Hackney today on a Hiab, £500.

Thanks Paul, that's what I've done. 7.5t to Yorkshire and then 7.5t to Aberdeen for £1050. That's nae too bad I think considering the amount of boards that is.

as been mentioned why dont you look for return loaders of the wagon from your place down there delivered to a collection point up there local haulers would love a return if there vehicle is empty

the point of down there is quick load and gone

if they was a yard up there close to a haulers place then could be delivered there on a return trip

note return loads can be much cheaper as its what we had to do do when driving wagons any returns in an empty wagon was a bonus to the company and costs less
