Using the correct settings?

Just looking for some advice.

I'm Using a jasic 450s mig with esab 1mm copper coated wire and I'm welding up some 12mm plates to some 230x90x32 pfc (all mild steel)

I've got it set at 11.5 wfs and 24.2v which is kicking out around 250ish amps Is this enough and if not then any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For that thickness you want to be in full spray transfer, wire speed seems about right, just tune your volts in to suit

I think it's almost in spray as it's almost got a nice hissing sound to it maybe needs 1 more volt but you may be able to tell me otherwise?

Once you've got a nice condition turn the wire feed up then bring the volts up till your back in spray and keep doing this until you get the weld size you are looking for

What is full spray transfer? In lay mans terms take it easy on me'

I played with my oerlikon 200MP today on spray transfer on 10mm plate.
jims estimate there is just about spot on what I had 28V at 499 IPM which converts to approx 12.5 mpm at the same voltage.
Tried loads of different settings and that Was the sweetspot. Blasted out at 225A approx at these settings

Yeah 0.9mm rich pretty small.
That's a deffo pal since the oerlikon Mp200 records your very last actual welding parameters (whilst welding and also what you originally set) on the screen

Not doubting you mate I just expected more current to be drawn from those numbers.

To be honest me too mate,
Miller calculator said 26v and 420 -520 IPM.
27v was globular which was horrible 28v spray transfer.
That machine cuts off after 2 seconds of 240A under a maximum current limitation. I didn't exceed the 240A on these settings.(Not the duty cycle trip which is only 20% flat out supposedly ) to prevent cooking the machine. I use that machine for lighter stuff and the warrior for the heavy stuff.

How are you finding the Jasic? Im going to be on the look out for another big mig this year and have heard good things about the smaller Jasic sets but nothing on the big stuff. The warranty implies it must be good and for a fraction of the price of a lincoln speedtec 505 it seems too good to be true
