they wont come out and renew the cable and cutout till the work has been completed not even for a temporary supply then. they said they will call the same day . I cant believe that

They won't isolate before the meter, encourages tampering. They should have fitted a new cutout without a fuse so the job could be finished without waiting on them turning up

I did mean isolate after meter thought that would have been obvious

The DNO won't fit the meter either, hence why I avoid the jobs like the above, as I would have to be on site with the DNO and the sparky, very cozy in that little cupboard

It's ridiculous, I've had a team onsite to do the hole, one to joint the cable and one to fit the cutout

Then I can fit the meter, proper trade union at the DNO's

5. Cable pulling gang (despite only being a 3m length of cable)

7. Surveyor to plot cable route before backfill
8. Grab gang to backfill and compact
9. Hotbox gang to reinstate
10. DNO

Just as efficient as when i packed it in I guess.

Water boys were in our (private) yard recently, sorting out a leaking meter, full chapter 8 barriers out, signs, cones the lot all for a 2 foot square hole. Wasn't enough room for all the signs, so they were out on the road outside the gates.
Got talking to them, immediate sacking if they don't do it by the book. Quite a few inspectors sneaking about by all accounts.

Water boys were in our (private) yard recently, sorting out a leaking meter, full chapter 8 barriers out, signs, cones the lot all for a 2 foot square hole. Wasn't enough room for all the signs, so they were out on the road outside the gates.

the sky dish fitters up this way must now drill a hole in the wall and fit an eye so they can rope ladders when fitting a dish, if not its the sack but if they are removing an old dish they dont have to rope work that one out

Yes, seen the same here. Hard hat, full body harness attached to ladder, ladder lashed off. Better than standing on top of a wheelie bin though

i asked the guy why not on removal, he had no idea, yeah i wanted to bin sky other half didnt

yes there not much more in cost than plastic and theres enough knockouts in them for cable -entry --the only hole needed is a 30mm one for the mains tails compression gland the only bad design bit is the metal lid. u have to hold it up to get to the breakers . more than likely if it was other way round -someone would probably -leave it open exposing the breakers to fire

Think it was the BT manual some years ago that stated ladders must be secured at the top when used on telephone poles, so how do you secure it without climbing up an unsecured ladder?
