You have to or it will never cure properly. It may dry but won't cure. Full cure takes about 5 days at 20 degrees Celsius.

hmmmm... that might be difficult to achieve. If I went for that Bilt Hamber Electrox stuff would I still have the same issue?
I used 2 coats of electrox bushed on the underside of my car, followed by 3 coats of gravitex stonechip bushed on afterwards. after 3 years the results are showing rust all over the place, so I've switched to using 3 coats of jotun 87 being brushed on my other car and it seems to be lasting better. both cars were stripped back to bare metal before being painted

It's very cold and damp to be spraying at the moment. I have previously warmed the panel a bit with a heat gun, then dried the primer a bit with the heat gun after spraying, but only out of desperation to get on with welding my project. Better to wait until it warms up a bit if you can.
Disappointed to hear your report on the Electrox, Optima. The bits I have done on my car seem to be holding up OK, but it hasn't been on as long as yours yet.

I've used Electrox on allsorts of things, & found it very good, never had a problem with it. On the drawbar of my trailer I used Deox gel to remove the rust then sprayed it with a spray can, its been outside 5 or 6 years & no rust has come through.

Welded in my first new piece of metal at the weekend. I had to blow out a couple of small fires at some points. I think it's this dynax s50 cavity wax that has previously been sprayed inside the area. This is very concerning as the area I was welding hardly had any of the stuff on. Some of the bits I have to do next are coated in the stuff. I'm gonna have a go at scrubbing clean what I can reach with a toothbrush and some solvent perhaps?? I have a fire extinguisher... I don't want to have to use it though!!!

Keep a plant sprayer or a kitchen cleaner spray container (Mr Muscle, others are available) which is empty and fill it with water and a soggy rag to dab on flames. Save your extinguisher for proper fires. I slap a generous coat of Zinc 182 on anything out of sight, it works for me.
