power hacksaw

Hi all

I have finally got my own place more space than parents garage. I only do bits and bobs . I was fancying either a old machanical saw or what about one of the cheaper band saws?

Keep your eye out for an old ajax or rapidor, great saws, that shouldn't cost the earth.

I go to impalament sale up this way. Where theres is quite often some there. Just try get one of the smaller ones though to hand ball.

depends what you want to cut, I managed to pick up an old hoover donkey saw that can only manage 6cm but does what I need or at least it will once I modify the vice to allow me to cut angles

the good thing is it is small enough to put on a shelf when I don't need it

i bet u mean its a kennedy hacksaw with a hoover motor and not one out -of a vaccum cleaner

Having used both items I would suggest one of the 6x4 bandsaw clones.

I always found the hacksaw very slow to cut, especially if you are waiting on it.

yes, it was sold as a "hoover saw" and I forget that it is actually a kennedy even though it says so on the side

Thanks for replys. I was wanting cut 100mm box max tbh. Think will just be keeping eye out. Speed of cut and that isn't a problem. Prob more down to price and where new place is .hoe easy it is to get there
