Too true. The company my Father, brother and I worked for was bought by an asset stripper in 1983 and the guy made millions from the sale. Turned out he lived close to my sisters employer in Bibury and she knew his blacksmiths bill alone was unpaid for 3 years. I found out recently our financially strapped company had enough to buy him a helicopter to get about in.

The only way you are gonna have money like that is to be tough and ruthless. Most of us guys are just normal working guys on here I'm guessing.
I certainly don't have the personality or the business drive to Shaft people like us on the Way to the top because to get to the top you do have to Shaft people.
I also have a couple of very wealthy boat clients.and every penny is a prisoner with them.
They try to screw me back on the price and argue about every penny.I don't want to live like that or do that to anybody. I'd sooner be skint and be the kind of human being I am.

I have never played too hard and all the most successful people I know don't either
A man has to know his limitations in the words of dirty Harry and you catch more fish with a tasty bait than a dried up washed out old one
Nobody has yet found a buisness that don't depend totally on supplier and customer relationships

Maybe so mate but manyof us have experienced trouble with getting no-quibble hassle free payment from people with money. The fact is that they are are in a position to argue with you, especially if they know you need the money.
It's not just me saying this. Every small business owner I know says the exact same thing. I appreciate tho that is a general statement and other people have had different experiences.

Maybe so mate but manyof us have experienced trouble with getting no-quibble hassle free payment from people with money. The fact is that they are are in a position to argue with you, especially if they know you need the money.

When I worked for a large company years ago, I remember a company phoning up the office one day. I happened to be at my desk at the time ( I was head engineer). The call got passed to my colleagues desk and then bounced to mine as I had sanctioned all the work after discussion with the Md who I am not allowed to say the correct words to describe what I think of him on here. Let's just say some of the things he shouted across the office at me when he Was having a tantrum was enough for a lawsuit.
Anyway the guy was asking for payment for the work. This was July and the work had been completed in Jan. I asked what work he was talking about assuming they had done further work sanctioned by the 2nd in command. It turned out he still hadn't been payed from Jan. The bill was over 56,000 quid.I was a bit confused why it went on for so long but he said he had been trying to get paid. My colleague went thru and asked accounts why it wasn't payed and she said it wasn't authorised
I asked my colleague why not, he says the Md decides who is getting paid and if he decides there not then that is the way it is
I was pretty shocked and surprised and also felt really bad as I had arranged the work.
I had another massive fight with the Md a few weeks later over a safety issue and quit so I never knew the outcome. I absolutely hated the guy by then.alot more had happened to go into on here

Well I got the remittance document through the post today so the cash should follow shortly. :-)

I'll definitely make sure I put some hefty terms on the next invoice. You live and learn...
