TRansit gear linkage

having some difficulty selecting gears on my 60 reg transit could it be just a case of oiling the cables,the lever is stiff in the gate ,anyone have experience of rectifying this please?

Thanks, it's more common for the linkages on fwd boxes to seize up.
Is the lever stiff going side to side, or Only back and forth or both? I would first be popping the cable ends off the selector arm on the gear box. they are on the drivers side of the box and a simple ball and socket fit, they may or may not have a little release button in the centre but if not they come off easy with a pry bar, after they are off check the lever feel, that should Give you an idea on what end the fault lays

Not on a 60 plate with a short lever on the dash, it has cables, something like an 05 with a long lever coming from the floor fits into the top of the gearbox

what the f… is IIRC?? is it teenage talk, lol anyway the stiffness is more pronounced side to side.

ok,i didn't presume cables were seized,just that they may be dry.

It's a possibility but I as its more side to side you would presume they would wear at a similar rate, I unless its stiff in both directions but more side to side. Best bet is to pop cables off and have a go
