Probably the most useful tool I own is my iPhone. Earns/saves me more money than any other piece of kit in the shop I expect.

Good call I use mine in the workshop all the time looking for materials etc and better ways to do things, like you tube videos. And there's handy apps for milling feeds and speeds etc.

But it can also be a big distraction, you see there's this welding forum......

This question has been asked on here before and I still stick by the post I made then , my favourite is the 8" bahco shifter that lives in my pocket, it gets used for everything it was designed to do and many many things that it wasn't designed to do !

I must admit I have a bacho adjustable fetish. I must have over 10 in sizes from 6" to 24" but I realy need a 30" to top the collection off.

They are by far the best adjustable by far.

Agreed bacho adjustables are the best.
Snap on make the best combination spanners by far.

Mrs God does use a Bahco adjustable on her Brough Superior.
I have a few myself.
Last year I asked my sone what he wanted for xmas, he said a decent adjustable spanner. I bought him a bahco, he spent all day fiddling with it.

Me neither I hate using cheap nasty chocolate metal to do a job. It's actually saved me a fortune in time and frustration buying my favourite brands in tools.

I have a pair of Maun compound action side cutters that I use for trimming wire on the MIG; when you're stopping and starting a lot cutting the blob off with ordinary pliers or cutters gets old very quickly; they aren't much more money than ordinary cutters and they're made in the UK.

knipex and elliot lucas for side cutters every time there designed for cutting piano wire which is hard as hell. the only thing they dont like cutting is live cables

A genuine USA made vise grips was the best out there and walked all over the "mole grips"

Heathen. Wash your mouth out. The old Mole grips were lovely things. I have a small pair and they've never once let me down.

Lovely things they are, though I prefer the old ones to the newer SO fare. Never seen any other adjustable which comes close to a Bahco though. Any other type I've ever tried, you can understand why some people won't touch adjustables with a bargepole, if they've never had the chance to try a Bahco.

Knipex cutters are very good I believe those bolt cutters I rave about are badged Gedore is but made by knipex as they look very much the same with different handles

I don't think Knipex and Gedore and in the same group of companies, those two cutters look similar but the handle forgings are opposite.

Your probably right, I was guessing as I thought they look the same. Yes I see what you mean about the handles.

Yeah I agree, if it fits in the jaws it will cut it. I've got 4 pairs of Side cutters in my box 2 knipex 2 snap on and they hardly come out as my 200 mm bolt cutters will do the lot. Wire stripping and delicate cutting with the front they are no good for but general straight through stuff there the perfect pocket size tool. I have had them through 4mm stainless saw wire in the past.

Pozidrive screw drivers at the minute. Until recently all my pozidrives were bits but sometimes you just want a basic old screwdriver and not mess around with a cordless drill and bits.

Black and Decker powerfile has been invaluable on my car resto. Also, building the metal folder as outlined by bmwtony and following a few examples from this site was one of the best things we have done to help with the project.

Has to be my trusty old Clarke 4" belt linisher that I've had since the mid eighties. It's rare that I do anything without using it.

It would've been the 4" Makita grinder that dates back even further, but that finally gave up on life earlier this year (sob).

i need a belt linisher, and possibly a wet and dry grinder that i saw in aldi for £30 earlier
