Ebay problems

In need of some advice, I sold a fluke multi meter on eBay, the buyer is not a local lad judging by the length of his name and all his messages being in broken English.

I had a funny feeling about it from start and I first said he will pay me in a few days then 5 mins later I get money but no other message. I get the wife to post to the address on PayPal the next day. That morning I get a message asking to send to another address, said it's too late as been posted, should have informed me when he paid. a week goes by and it arrived with him as I tracked it online and he left feedback. Tonight I get a message saying item is a fake and will report me to eBay. Loads of messages exchanged between us, he will not provide pictures of item but brought another tester and it's different to mine so mine must be fake and then said he will not return it as he took it apart and damaged it.... Which he cannot show pictures of, maybe try in a few days. In the end I asked him to open a case so I can explain to eBay what's going on. tHe bloke has 8 feedback and is clear to me will try to get money back via eBay which I have heard or other forums happen a lot and eBay always side with the buyer. Do you think I have much of a chance?

Pretty slim, to be honest. As you say, eBay always seem to side with the buyer - but fingers crossed, when faced with all the messages, they might take your side.

Contact ebay and explain what is going on. It's in the lap of the gods what they do but never send to an address other than one in ebay..unless you know them then it must still be in paypal or you will get problems.

Open your own case if you are still allowed to....not sure as it's been a while sInce I needed to.

I see a lot of sellers on fleabay stating they will not sell to buyers in a lot of far eastern and african countries, too much attempted fraud, scams and other nonsense i reckon.

10 years ago I sold an expensive tv quality video camera,guy wanted his money back saying the colour quality is poor......to cut a story short I found out that he'd already had one of these cameras and swopped the main body over with mine and put his inplace with the camera I sold.

Musta thought i was stupid and after me showing ebay pics of the serial numbers(photographed befor being sent) of the camera parts ie the body they agreed he was dishonest and I sent the camera back to him.

I only sell within the UK or use the Ebay global shipping program where I only have to post to a UK address and they do the rest.

Well the buyer has took it apart and damaged it,is not willing to send it back the way it went....thats good enough for me not to do nothing about it.

I have said for him to open a case as asking multiple times to provide pictures proving it's fake, and pictures of a damaged tester and to send it back which he can't as its damaged and getting no were with him. Was exchangeing messages every few mins but as soon as I said that I have not heard anything

always send to the postal address of ebay or paypal address never send to another address

as goes for reporting you interesting with he took it apart and that its fake and he broke it
as goes for pictures you have the right to ask for this to happen but watch out for copying your own pics and sending them

one other thing request buyer sends it by recorded post I bet they dont send it by recorded post and accuse you of losing it

i suspect they didnt know what they was doing and fried the multimeter easy done when you dont know what your doing with them

as goes with ebay either report them first or allow them to report the item

as goes for ebay buyer usually wins but his messages goes against him the seller is unfairly discriminated against by fradulant buyers

ive had a few troubles from sellers but ive always given fair feedback the last one wasted my time and only sent 6 out of 18 packs of paslode nails and expected good feedback even had the cheek to state check listing as mistakes cannot returned on there listing

He might give up but lets put it like this. I have had a vinyl cutter sent back that was in bits and 10 years old and a 24 inch heat press that was supposed to have been in the box but the courier even carried it in using the tape attached to it. He carried it by his little finger......was on CCTV when he put it on the table saying not much in this one chaps.

Paypal/ebay are not equipped to receive video evidence. One he posts it back to you he can just input his tracking number and eBay will pay out. He could even post a brick to you..............

This is why i say open a case. Ebay can see all the messages...do NOT communicate outside eBay. They ignore anything sent outside their system.

Often they will refund both parties unless he has done it before and it will be logged.

Ebay will not pay out unless they have a tracking number.....but they will not care what was sent back...

uk racer use your cctv evidence but you need to edit it in a video program as i did then use dropbox account as the link is playable then copy and paste link onto a reply to the seller you cant get more proof than that

I used cctv evidence against a courier that said they had delivered it to the address infact they hadnt been near the property as the cctv evidence showed it was then confirmed it was delivered to the wrong address all done through ebay

I sold some Hella Astra headlights, perfect condition with pictures of security markings I put on before despatch

Within 5 minutes of them being signed for I had a message, they have broken lugs, chrome is peeling etc etc

Fought it all the way, got different headlights back and eBay still refunded the buyer, so I had someone else's broken lights and lost out on postage

Still had my revenge but it put me off selling on eBay

its certainly open to abuse by the dishonest portion of the population

Generally nowadays if you escalate the case and ask eBay to look at the messages exchanged they will just refund the both of you to close it all down. We've had it a couple of times selling things and have always got our money back.

Awsome. My issues were 4 years ago when I was managing for some chinese. It actually served them right but that was not the point I did edit the clip but it's nice to know they are moving with the times..

Dont hold your breath..ive been a 100% positive for many years untill a nonce gave me bad feedback over an item he said was faulty,many many messages by me to return the same item for a full refund including post costs fell on deaf ears...I reported the unfair feedback and never even got a reply off ebay,now i dont care and will play the same rules as the rest of the team are playing and stuff my feedback

I don't think you'll have a problem here. Let him open a case he's got no chance. The meer fact he has left it a week, left you positive feedback and claims to of bust it as far as I see it he's bought it and that's that. eBay won't side with him as he cannot return your item in the condition it was sent and he cannot claim it was sent in that condition as he left you pos feedback and has had it a week. Just let him send you messages and open a case. It won't go in his favour in this case.
