More useless info: thatcham repair guide for the mercedes 190 has lots of references to 'solder welds and file smooth, although modern alternative epoxy putty may be used'... note the epoxy, not cheap ass polyester

they only used lead back in the day beacuse there werent any other choice

modern fillers wont sink , crank , peel off when done right , and you shouldnt be putting it over rust /pin holes so it can soak up water

not a bad skill to have , but 9/10 jobs are fine with filler , after all we soon dropped using celly because its poop hey

Isopom p38 (at least) is in my opinion a filler designed with the end user in mind.

Easy to use. Prepare. Sand etc.

As a quality filler. I don't rate it to highly

Yeah good advice mate, the bakers is highly corrosive, I just use bits of hardwood that I've sculptured over the years and tallow
