Central heating advice needed

New house has a combi boiler with two issues.
First up.
I turned the clock back and like a fool turned it the wrong way and seem to have killed it.
The little clicky switches all operate but it only comes on manually. I am guessing I have broken something inside it.
I have looked o the web and it says that they are a standard piece that is easily changed. Can anybody advice on that.
Edit.
I just had a look at it and the rotating switch thingy fell off all together. We can assume it is broken.

Next.
Hot water, this wored fine for the first three months but now I often get no hot water when I turn the tap. Cold water flows fine. There is a little reset button on top of the boiler that sorts this out. But I guess it is better to fix the problem. When I am getting hot water the flow rate drops slowly and it is all milky with air in it.
Any ideas.

What is the make and model?

You're right about the timer, it's knackered.

The hot water problem needs more detail. When you say the reset solves the problem, how long does this then work for. Are you getting a normal flow of hot or does it quickly go cold?

Hot water seems to be fine for a while eg washing up or having a wash. That is about all it gets used for, as I shower and that is seperate.
I will play about with the hot water wen I get home from work later and see how it behaves.
The Boiler is a Worcester 28i RSF if that means anything to you. the switch looks to be a standard item but I bet there are loads of them aand they are not always compatible.
I can operate it manually so I at least have heating which is not so bad.

as goes for your water problem check your inlet filters on the water side you may need to turn the mains on whilst filter is off but not whilst connected to the boiler to exit any blockages that are hitting your filter

not easiest thing to do

milky water is a sign of over boiling of water within your boiler hence why your overheat switch trips out further advice disconnect heat side and run it through your boiler after cleaning the filter

after this is done any less water coming out of your tap is not your boiler so check your taps for blockages

When I am getting hot water the flow rate drops slowly

I have some older style taps in my house and the hot water comes out pretty hot from the combi boiler but it takes a few seconds before the really hot water arrives.

What I have noticed is that as the water gets hotter it heats the tap causing some part of the valve to close up as it expands. Opening the tap further restores full flow.

Hot weater seems to be behaving itself at the moment, coming out white downstairs but not in the bathroom. Odd/
the heating comes on manually but the switch is knackered.
So new switch then. The fittings are different to the video but I will have a look at getting the panel apart tomorrow.
I take it wiring is a case of just matching wires up. I am a bit of an electrophobe but need to man up a little bit.

I had issues with a combi years ago, there was an oring round the filter had furred up, took it out, replaced with a fiber washer never had any issues again

no most boiler systems are like cars they have a plug on them which you seperate like the car ones

milky water out of hot tap

The water from combi boilers is heated directly from the mains, so the only time the water is released to the atmosphere is when it comes out of the tap. This means that during heating, the calcium bi-carbonate present in the water changes to calcium carbonate. This causes the creation of Carbon Dioxide which close up is seen as millions of bubbles, this is not sediment it's merely cosmetic. If you run some hot water into a glass and let it cool it will slowly clear. This phenomenon is more apparent in hard water areas and from models with perhaps slower and/or lower flow rates.

Thanks for clarifying the murkiness of the water. I could see it clearing but it is nice to know the chemistry behind this effect.
I will keep an eye on the hot water, the slow flow may have been just me opening the tap a small amount. Maybe I will wash up again one day to see how it goes.
I will have a look after work tonight and see if I can work out which switch I need. And how to fit it.

Hi, this is personal preference, but I don't bother with the timer 'clicky' switches I have it on all the time and control it with the thermostat. This way it keeps the chill off the house all day and then when you come home it hasn't got to bring the whole house from cold.

Thanks for all the advice.
I had a cash flow 'situation' but was able to source and fit the switch today, pricey but it works again.
The heating is fine and the hot water is behaving itself again.
