what size regulator for burning torch

hi i have acquired a clarke burning torch and want to use it with a propane tank i have. i have tried it with the standard 37 bar regulator but thats a waste of time the flame is no better than a lighter.

i want to use the torch to heat the metal to aid bending

any help appreciated

I think the problem is the regulator
I did an online search for a 37 bar regulator but only found a patio heater regulator and it's 37Mbar which is 0.037 Bar

The ones we used to use did, I'm sure they were 20 bar regulators.

Roofing torch regulators are usually adjustable up to 15+ bar.

Your 37 milibar regulator is for a camping stove.

37 milli bar is standerd for patio heaters and bbq's you need 0-4 bar reg for oxy propane, no point it fitting a 20 bar propane reg ( if there is such a thing ) as propane has a critical pressure of around 7 to 8 bar at room temp !

Used hydrogen reg a few times with a 20 bar second stage, this also works fine, this may be where people get the 20 bar pressure from !

Ignore all of the above, it's incorrect! Something like this is what you need; designed for the gas in use (which is important) + correct input/output pressures. Also fit a Flashback Arrestor

with my sievert blowtorch I use an adjustable regulator between 2 and 4 bar

looking at clarkes instructions their regulators need a suppply of propane upto 4 bar

out of curiosity burning torch as in just a propane blow torch or oxy propane burning torch .if propane only any decent adjustable propane reg will work and u dont need a flashback arrestor .oxy propane u need flashback arrestors and hose check valves to stop reverse flow and stop flashbacks

Burning torch is for propane only as a blow torch, not cutting.
I think this is what i should buy

Neat propane is a pretty poor heater of steel for bending without oxy
Scratch that it's pants without oxy or perhaps a forced air flow?
Once you add oxy ( which you will) you need flashbacks
Your normal welding supplier will sell you a bar adjustable regards without a clock but with numerical indicators

i think the op has something similar if not the same as this one so oxy not an option

That's OK for a long warm say on a casting but pathetic for getting bar up to a red heat you do need some O2 for that

without oxygen u cant localise the heat also get it hot
quick enough

It's debatable if oxy makes things more dangerous than a tank of fuel gas that happens to be heavier than air
