Pulley / Idler.

Good afternoon good people of the welding world.

I am after a some pulleys for the belt drive on a balancing machine. I have tried the world wide web and none seem to be the right size and place I went to this afternoon had nothing close, Ive been told that the OEM stopped selling the bits for the machine long ago and even if they had some on the shelf it would cost us a fortune. I also need one quite quickly as the machine is going on a long haul holiday on Wednesday. The bore where the pin goes through is made up of 2 bearings held in place with a Circlip. The OD of the bearing is 40mm. If anyone can help it will be appreciated.

Thats the sort of thing I am after but I can't see any dimensions or are they made to order?

The do some that are close enough to what I need but they don't have the groove the circlip that holds the bearings in.

Ive always found a website called engineers mate.com most usful and helpful, if you ring up.

Dont look too complicated any one with a lathe and a chunk of billet should be able to spin you one or two up.

The do some that are close enough to what I need but they don't have the groove the circlip that holds the bearings in.

the center is the bearing all rolled into the casting ie you don't need a bearings as they're already within the center,if you look at it properly,problem is whether the bore? is right for what you need

the dimensions are in the second link in mm but looks as though they have more sizes going by the text

New Pulley MattH. There is nothing wrong with the bearings, the pulley is slightly worn and looks a little shabby.

Seen the link, the inner bore need to be around 17mm.

Some one with a lathe will sort that out in a jiffy.

Have you considered welding new flanges onto existing and then having them machined to tidy them up ,and the drive/idler surface that the belt goes on ,if it's just an appearance issue?

also search for bearing boys uk,don't know if they have the type but its worth a look.

agree with DW.......simples turning job that. local jobbing shop should knock a couple up in an hour or 2 out of a bit of 4"???

its not just appearance. one if them doesn't run true after 2 ton job fell on it.

If the bearings are good(no play ) and the shaft is not bent then where does the problem lie? As a matter of interest ,similar jobs I've worked on the running surface is slightly (crowned)to help keep the belt central.unless I'm missing something then you need to find out why it's not running true in order to effect a remedy.

You would be best off taking the bearing out, drawing up the piece and sending the drawing out to be machined. It wouldnt take me longer than an hour to make one of those!

What am I looking at cost wise, I certainly need two but there will be more to come.

Aluminium I'd say,judging by the ding in it.
