miller migmatic 300

Evening all

I've got a tired Miller integra243 mig and thinking of replaceing with a miller migmatic 300 more power, better feed etc

I just wandered if anyone had any first hand experience with this unit? not enquired yet if these are italian or american build (think american)

Usage will be from car bodywork, land rover stuff, fabrication in workshop up to 12mm web rsj on site

Most of the new Miller units that come into the UK are Italian unless specifically stated otherwise IIRC
Know a friend of mine that bought a new one recently to take it over to Thailand for Bio Gas installations, he hasn't had any issues with it.
I love Miller stuff.. Proper work horses.

250dx is same body as the 220's but 3ph as 220 is biggest single phase and i think they are Italian made, itw are european importers for miller i believe,
the 300& 380 are different looking again but yes are next up in compact mig range.
are you pleased with your 250?

tom your probably right built to spec in europe, doesn't matter really people used to say american miller were better built but i suspect theres nothing in it these days

Brilliant. I bought it - from the same supplier - to supplement a Migmatic 171 that has seen probably ten years use and has only needed a gas solenoid replaced apart from consumables.

It's great. Well made, well finished and performs well, and the service from Premier Welding in Glasgow is superb. Low key. No sales pressure. No hassle, they just do what you ask them to do, or what they say they'll do, when they say they'll do it.

I'm not convinced by the "synergic" bit. I feel it needs a bit more wire most of the time - particularly on the lower settings we use, but a quick switch to manual mode - where it is pretty much left - fixes that.

Highly recommended, but dearer than the comparable Britarc/TecArc/Oxford/Portamig

yes there are plenty cheaper but they are nice machines,
I would prob go for manual machine as i dont think the extra cost of synergy bit would get used or justified
