Pop rivet gun

Hi guys

Looking for advice on were and what gun to buy.

I want a QUALITY pop rivet gun probably air operated.

I'll consider a hand operated unit only having used a air one. They do seem to give better results

Gesipa Flliper is pretty good hand riveter for upto 4.8mm rivets, if a lazy tong is a bit on the large side.

Air wise, the budget £50-60 ones seem a much of a muchness, Clarke/Sealey... They work.

I have the usual hand one plus a lazy tong, used it alot putting fittings on to yacht masts with monel rivets. Superb.

yep these are the daddy of rivit guns...totally another level in terms of ease of use.

I bought one of these at the car boot sale last month - £40 including a battery, charger and case.

i remember your post thinking...you bought it off Stevie Wonder at that price a lot of people dont believe me when you tell them they can cost as much as £650..

I bought a cheap metal shed and decided to rivet together rather than use the supplied self tappers. Sod's law says my old compressor motor seized so couldn't use my air riveter (got two !) so had to do it by hand. The lazy tongue did the job effortlessly but awkward to use for the hundreds of rivets needed. Could only manage a few with normal / common hand riveter before hand ache !
I always use the air whenever possible. My cheap new version does just as good a job for DIY as the dearer version I got secondhand. FWIW the reason I have two is bought the secondhand first off eBay but seller tried to cheat all his buyers and didn't send. In mean time desperate as restoring an old Land Rover so bought new to do the job then chased up seller and had to threaten with Police (needed to make old PAYPAL claim) before he sent item.

I often need to rivet on van roofs, which is hard work with an ordinary rivet gun but I'd never reach with a lazy tong as I'm typically halfway up a ladder. A bit far to run an airline and I can't afford £500 for that glorious looking cordless. Looks like I'm stuck with my trusty old spiralux hand rivet gun!

I have a Nielsen tools Air Riveter that was bought to do the roof on a horse box and it more than paid for itself on that one job but has proved useful since.

Manual ones for me...Yes if pulling a lot of rivets often air powered makes sense, but for onesy twosey quantities its worth getting a perspective on how easy to just grab and go a manual set is plus they're never flat, or need a airline walking out to the job.
I have a industrial air rivetter but I almost always end up using the plain old hand squeezers for the above reasons.

I bought a Draper air rivet gun to build some ramps. Best thing I ever got. Took ten minutes on that job to put in over a hundred rivets. I use it on every job now, even single rivets!!
