Anyone on here working in a place in basildon called cps engineering?

Im going there tomorrow through friday, favour on behalf of the company i now work for, mostly grinding down welds and polishing steel boxes/jackets before they get sent back to my place for fitting.

yes, i had almost forgotten about this place as i havent done any welding or anything engineering related for quite some time now but i was asked earlier by work if i was up for a trip to this place in essex and thought maybe there was someone here that worked there

The only place in Basildon I know that vaguely do any engineering is the tractor plant

this place, as far as i know only do production welding runs, all welded by hand and finished by hand with a small team of people. me and another body are going up to help with end of line labour, grinding and polishing although i was asked to do a quick weld run with a mig earlier today so after blowing the cobwebs out i managed a decent looking run so im not sure if i will be required to weld at all. they are only making small steel jackets for our batteries, they also house a heater element to account for the drop in temp as the batteries are going into military jets so they climb quite high and the batteries dont like the drop in temp

That is hard to get my head round, not doing some sort of tinkering involving metal would be too much for me! We have been working down that way but that was all finished about a month ago. Sounds like an interesting mission, good luck with the polishing that is a skill all its own!

its been killing me but have had too much other stuff to deal with. mrs has been ill for just over a year now, she has been better over the last 2 months but still not fully recovered and we still have no idea what it is or whats causing it, and have had issues with landlord moaning that i have 'dangerous' equipment in the garden (a propane bottle and an 8 tonne press [well did have anyway, all gone now]). have been ding a fair bit more shooting to compensate for no metal work though so its not all bad and wildfowling season started again on the 1st sept, pheasants start agian in october so that will be busy plus work is keeping my mind off things quite well

ive been told by a colleague that there is nowt to do in basildon and we would be better off going to southend or billericay after work for food etc

I concur, its an absolute hell hole and a half, south end is better but beware of the chavs !!

I was there in 1988 servicing the ABB robots, I mainly remember the place for having my company car (with a boot full of tools) nicked from the hotel carpark
