Brewing cider

Hey guys I may brew some cider this year always wanted to Ave a go my wife's parents have loads of apples but how do u press the apples I was thinking of using a cheap s s vat with a half inch hole in the bottom and then tig a half inch socket on with a mf iso valve any ideals on a press can I just mash the apples ect
