Laid a slab yesterday, but the cement ballast ratio used was too low.
The ratio worked out at 1:8, which is generally given as a foundation mix, rather than a surface mix.
My irritation is significant, as I calculated correctly, but got overulled by someone with more experience, whom, it seems, was in error.
Anyhow, I doubt it will make a whole load of difference, as the traffic over the area will not be great (hard standing at the back of our plot, probably mainly for storing works in progress!) but it still irritates me (at least I stopped them putting fairly liquid in the mix, eh?)
So, on an 8:1 mix, is it sensible to use some sort of penetrating hardener? I assume the structual integrity will be OK, but the surface ware of the weaker mix will be greater?
