Can I Spray Gravitex on a Wet Base Coat?

Hi;

I have just sprayed my last coat of Epoxy ready for a couple of layers of Gravitex.
Under the Epoxy is a cured coat of Epoxy and Seam Sealer that has been on for a couple of days.

The Epoxy is Joton Jotamastic 87 and here is the TDS, its says 'Dried to overcoat minimum 24 - 10 hours (10 and 23 Degrees C respectively) I sprayed my subframe wet on wet Epoxy?

Question:
Can I start the Gravitex on top of the wet coat of Epoxy once its flashed off? Or do need to leave the Epoxy for 24 hours or so?

personally i would let it go beyond flashing off ...a good few hours would be ok

Thanks, I left it for an hour or so then put a light coat on with a Gravity LVLP gun just on the Rear Valance, Inside the Wheel Arches and Rear Sills and Heel Board (It's a classic Mini).
I only mixed up 250ml with about 15ml thinners and towards the end it was pretty glooped up and would not spray any more so I sacked it.

I was about to go the whole hog with my el cheapeo underbody gun but had second thoughts as it was getting dark outside, light inside the garage was pretty gloomy and I was tired. I also started to wonder about a bleed hole, something I have read here on the Forums, is it on the gun or in the bottle, I am using U-POL Gravitex Plus.

The bleed hole should be visible on the Schutz gun body where the can screws on.

Thanks Wallace, so the bleed hole should be in the part of the gun that screws onto the Gravitex bottle, i'll have a look at mine and get back to you.

I guess its purpose is to prevent the can from imploding?

Yes, as you are effectively vacuuming the contents out the can will implode if not.

Personally I would let the epoxy go off properly and scuff it before putting gravitex over the top.

Found the bleed hole, ended up leaving the Epoxy for a day or so the on with the Gravitex, gotta watch out when you squeeze the trigger :-)

I think that was the best way to go especially with the products being so different you could have easily been scraping it back off again had you gone ahead
