I used to have a bunch of the old tamiya cars in my younger days. Recently started "acquiring" some for my little lad; become a bit of an obsession and "we" have quite a few now.
Used to race them years ago with some mates, got sponsored buy a local model shop, we'd do the 1/10 off road and touring car nationals, I used to make the A & B finals at that level but it cost a bloody fortune. One of the best ever was the Donisthorpe 24 hour race where you raced off road buggies for 24 hours.
Unbelievable fun, came 2nd one year and 3 another if I remember. We were beating the official Schumacher team boys up until 13 hours the first year, only a combination of us getting gradually more ****** and them having a midnight rollicking from Robin Schumacher himself for being beaten by a bunch of amateurs scuppered our plans of world domination!
My two boys now have a couple of 1/10 touring cars we picked up from Autojumble's for peanuts.
4 wheel drive 1/10th off road EUROS is being run in the UK currently. Last day today. A Brit won the 2 wheel drive in the week.CHECK OUT rc racing tv on face book and the Web.
