Ants! bl**dy Ants

we've got a nest at the top of the drive but in the wall and under.
put Ant powder but its doesn't appear to do its job.
thought we got rid of them last year but they've come back with a vengeance!
what the best method of ridding them that any of you tried?
one I've been told is to pour petrol into the nest but not keen on that idea for obvious reasons.

I had two nests on my lawn last year so poured petrol on them and watched them burn It did the trick, however they seemed to move back this year but into the wall cavity of my house and made a home under the window sill (inside). I found this out when we got a new window fitted.
I've used spray,powder, bait traps and granuales and so far they've gone. I would also like to know of any way to eradicate them for good????
If they were spiders I'd sell up and move out

If you make the environment where the ants are nesting moist / wet then they should move on naturally. They like a dry spot and anywhere that's too wet or regularly floods won't be appealing to them.

We had ants living under the paving slabs in our garden, ant powder was liberaly applied with desires effect, lots of dead ants. All was good until I spied a wood pecker on the lawn hovering up all the dead ants, how guilty did I fell then?!

You need Ant Stop Bait stations. My area is plagued with ants and we sell loads in the shop. All customers says how good they are.

Isn't it salt? that you use as a barrier to stop ants coming over the threshold.

Try that on the nest.

Salt does not kill ants. This is contrary to the belief many people have that it does. A salt solution is used as a deterrent to stop ants coming into the house through cracks, holes, over windowsills etc. They will not walk over or through any area sprayed with a salt solution. You can also sprinkle salt along cracks in the driveway or along the sides of the house where ants are present. Make sure that areas are dry before applying the salt.

Try this.
6 table spoons of sugar. Same of Bi carb of soda, 3 of table salt. 1/2 of packet of Round up.
Mix with water, the amount of water varies, but you want enough for it all to be dissolved.
Put into a spray bottle, get into the nest, break up as much as you can. Spray the liquid all over, if you can find the nest area rip that apart.
If not hidden in brick work or under a path, you need to find were the exit from, destroy that and spray.
