A mate of mine has just bought a Peugeot camper van based on the Sevel Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer van, it was only supplied with one key, a second key was £300

Get onto the transit forum and find someone with IDS local to you, they can code you a new immobiliser that you can buy off ebay, then get the local key place to copy the actual metal bit.

You can wipe all keys that are not in your possession, so that's the insurance bit sorted. Read the user handbook, or again, find someone with IDS.

Remember when you had to physically put a key in the lock to get in a vehicle and reach across to unlock the other doors (our 54 reg Skoda Fabia is still like that) ? If you wanted to immobilise then it was a hidden switch cutting off ignition circuit or remove rotor arm etc.
On my N reg 300TDi Disco you can actually get a "genuine part" immobiliser bypass for around £15.

Some Transits had a red master key, guy I worked with used the red key all the time as it was easy to find on the keyring

just collected my new van yesterday but need a spare key,is it main dealer only,or is there an alternative? its got press buttons for securing & i assume a chip inside,its a 60 reg transit.

An auto locksmith should be able to cut and program you a new genuine key in under half an hour. Cost should be around the £140 mark...

Main dealer will be around £200
